This 8-book series creates a framework for an 11-dimension reality wherein multiple timewaves are possible (not timelines).  Besides that, existence is stratified into layers not unlike the energy levels that electrons can occupy.  That means there are multiple onion-skin-like physical and spiritual worlds.   Spirit and Matter separated, but also a fracturing of each realm created a Multiverse made of multiple shard-like or shadow-like Universes...all entangled with one another and each further stratified into layers.
